Who We Are

Hello, I’m Dan Shaffer, CEO of Wolfe CFO. For over 15 years, I’ve been deeply entrenched in the world of business ownership. My journey began with a pool service company that, through dedication and perseverance, grew to become the largest in the greater Boise, ID region. Along the way, I bought and sold companies, opened a retail store, and launched a pool construction business. The path was filled with both triumphs and lessons learned the hard way.

Throughout this journey, I invested heavily in consulting, accounting, controllers, and bookkeeping services. Despite this, I often found myself grappling with fundamental financial questions: What should my cash flow model look like? What should my Gross Profit (GP) and Net Income (NI) be? Which financial KPIs are crucial to ensure my business is on the right track? While revenue was growing, the bottom line was shrinking, and I was working 60+ hours a week. Clearly, something was amiss.

Determined to get to the bottom of it, I decided to take the reins of financial management myself. I immersed myself in books and training to learn the intricacies of being a CFO, all while maintaining the perspective of a business owner and CEO. The results were astounding—our numbers began to improve dramatically, and I found myself working between 8-16 hours a week, finally achieving the freedom I had sought when I first ventured into business.

It was then that the idea for Wolfe CFO was born. Realizing that if I struggled to find the right help, others likely did too, I set out to offer a solution. Wolfe CFO draws its name from my Native American tribal clan, whose role was to protect the village—just as our role is to protect your vision.

At Wolfe CFO, we don’t approach financial management like any ordinary CFO service. With the unique insights gained from my experiences as a business owner, CEO, and father, we tailor our consultations to be comprehensive and holistic. We’re not just here to manage your finances; we’re here to partner with you, to help you realize your vision, and to provide the peace of mind that comes from knowing your financial foundation is solid.

Let’s embark on this journey together and discover the true freedom that comes with financial mastery.
